Spee-Dee® Maximizes Productivity With Innovative Digitronic® 4500 Series Net Weigh Auger Filler



Sturtevant, Wis. — James P. Navin, President of Spee-Dee® Packaging Machinery, Inc., recently announced the introduction of the 4500 Series Digitronic® Net Weigh Auger Filler for bulk ingredient packagers who serve the food processing industry. “Our newest entry to the extensive Spee-Dee Packaging Machinery product line made its debut at PACK EXPO in Chicago,” Navin stated.

Timm Johnson, Vice President, Sales/Marketing, described Spee-Dee’s latest innovation. “The high torque servo motor drive of the 4500 Net Weigh Series greatly increases the speed and efficiency of the filling operation for processors who fill bulk product into containers up to 50 pounds. The 4500 Net Weigh series utilizes the bulk/dribble method to easily fill dry powders in bags, boxes and bag-in-box applications, ideally suiting it for ingredient manufacturers.”

Further describing features and benefits, Johnson stated, “The hopper is a full 25 inches in diameter and 26 inches tall, dwarfing standard units. The tooling is 5 inches in diameter, more than 50% larger than our standard 3.25 inch 3500 Series Auger Filler tooling. A regular hopper holds 2 cu. ft. of product, but the 4500 Series hopper has a 5 cu. ft. capacity, an increase that significantly impacts throughput. In addition, there is a large surge hopper above the auger hopper to maintain more product in the queue. Total cycle times of 15 seconds are far faster than with other available equipment,” he concluded.

Other features of the Spee-Dee® 4500 Series Digitronic® Net Weigh Auger Filler include an adjustable height dust shroud that moves vertically to cover the top of boxes being filled. Spee-Dee will also supply optional bag clamps, infeed conveyors, power roller conveyors, outfeed conveyors and stainless steel stands. Allen-Bradley based control packages are standard for this unit, but alternate control packages are available for specific applications.
