Spee-Dee® Packaging Announces Debut of 3500 Series Servo III

Sturtevant, Wis. — James P. Navin, President of Spee-Dee® Packaging Machinery, Inc., recently announced the introduction of the newest addition to the company’s equipment offerings, the 3500 Series Servo III Digitronic® Auger Filler. “This is the next generation in auger filling, designed to enhance productivity and profitability for packagers of dry fill products,” Navin stated.

According to Timm Johnson, Spee-Dee Vice President, Sales/Marketing, the internal improvements in the componentry of the 3500 Series Servo III Digitronic Auger Filler offer packagers unique benefits on their dry fill production lines. “The new Standard Touch Screen operator interface features improved, easier to read graphic capabilities with a range of 256 colors for viewing such items as hopper level control,” he explained.

Pop-up menus enable scrolling up and down to adjust all filling parameters, including auger velocity, revolutions per minute, number of revolutions, agitator speed and the acceleration or deceleration rate. Johnson noted that this type of control results in very precise fine tuning, and that no complicated function keys are required. “Adjustments can be made while filling is in progress, without shutting down the line,” he stressed. In addition to showing the production rate in packages per minute, the touch screen will display banner messages to identify the current status of the filling operation, such as “Run”, “E-stop” or “Hopper Empty.”

Johnson further described the Servo III advantages. “One of the innovations that equipment operators will find most helpful is the 100 product memory module. It saves all fill parameters for 100 separate products, and utilizes real product or recipe names rather than complex codes that are difficult to remember. User friendly controls decrease operator error, permit greater control, and result in increased productivity. And, increased productivity is directly related to profit,” Johnson emphasized.

A remote mounted NEMA 4X stainless steel electrical enclosure is standard on the Servo III, eliminating the necessity of fans and air purge, while sealing the components from airborne particulates. Spee-Dee offers options such as Trend Check Weigh Feedback, Flapper, and Level Control with infeed control to customize the 3500 Series Servo III Digitronic Auger Filler for any dry fill production line or configuration. The Servo III’s PLC and all its electronic components are commercially available worldwide.
